Yin yoga is the perfect complement, using long holds of yin poses to stretch our overworked bodies and calm the stimulated mind. Master Sessions {November 17-19 2017}
The Yin Master Class is designed to bring a deeper level of knowledge to the serious yin student. With this information, you will be able to confidently create a home practice or adjust any group class for your specific yin goals.  You will have a better understanding as to what is actually happening in your physical  body and the origins of the yin style of yoga. In this weekend you will also experience 3 full one hour Yin classes.

You will cover:

  • What is the Yin and Yang of Yoga
  • Chinese and Yogic History
  • Guidelines for Practicing poses
  • Into into anatomy of the fascia
  • Analysis and Practice of 20 yin yoga poses including modifications and variations
Teacher Training {Nov. 17-19 2017 & Nov. 24-26 2017}
The Yin Teacher training is a 36 hour training that is an ideal add on to a 200 YTT. This course is designed to prepare you with the theory, postural facts and practice to confidently lead a yin offering. You will receive a Yin training manual with your registration, but to help you complete assignments during the week between studio session weekends you will need to acquire the book “The Complete Guide to Yin Yoga” by Bernie Clark. In this training, you will also experience 6 full one hour yin classes.

You will cover:

  • What is the Yin and Yang of Yoga
  • Chinese and Yogic History
  • Guidelines for Practicing poses
  • Into into anatomy of the fascia
  • Analysis and Practice of 20 yin yoga poses including modifications and variations
  • Deeper facial anatomy training
  • Benefits of yin practices
  • Basics of inclusion of students with common injuries or pregnancy
  • Chinese meridian theory
  • Sequencing and theming classes
  • Creating meditations, pranayama and relaxation techniques for class
  • Practice teaching mini yin classes with mentorship and peer reviews
About Joy Demsey
Joy Demsey has been teaching yin yoga and yin to meditation classes for over 4 years. She adds this to her 18 years of teaching Hatha, series hot yoga classes as well as nearly 30 years of study of  the physical practice, meditation and philosophy of yoga. This passion has sent her to study and practice from master teachers around the world. Most namely, from the yin perspective, with Bernie Clark , who is seen as one of the most esteemed teachers and authors of Yin yoga .  Joy loves working to help students in her classes balance their everyday realities with yoga, fusing her deep understanding of traditional yogic practices with our modern understanding of the body and mind.
