I started a Bikram yoga practice in 2005 and was 'hooked' after my first class. After having a consistent practice for two and half years I took a leave from my job as a social worker and went to Honolulu, Hawaii in 2007 where I completed the Bikram's (500) hour teacher training. In November 2009 I completed the YogaKids (32) hour Foundations training. In October 1-30th, 2010 I attended and completed the wonderful, intense Moksha Yoga teacher training in Montreal. November 2013 I refreshed my hot training in Mexico with Tony Sanchez. Moving from hot training to the not hot - yin - in 2010 I completed a 50 hour yin training with Bernie Clark and in 2011 further yin training with Paul & Suzee Grilley. Moving from hottest most movement to less heat and more stillness in May 2014 I participated in a Yoga Nidra training through Semper Viva in Vancouver.
I love yoga and believe yoga is for everybody - the young and the old and in between.

I went to my first Hot Yoga class in 2003 at the advice of one of the personal trainers of Gold's Gym where I had been a member of for the past (15) years. I had several chronic sports injuries that would not heal. I had separated my shoulder from diving incorrectly from the high-dive platform at the Canada Games Pool. I had also hurt my other shoulder from lifting heavy weights at the gym. I reluctantly went to my first Bikram Hot Yoga class and suffered through several classes as my shoulders slowly begin to heal. After (30) classes or so the pain was gone and after (6) months of regular practice my full range of motion was restored.
It was about one year later that I started taking the Hot Yoga classes seriously and started to come more often which resulted in many sick-free and injury-free years. I completed the Bikram Yoga Teacher Training in the Fall of 2007 with the goal of someday opening a Hot Yoga Studio. I refreshed my Hot Training again in November 2013 with a Tony Sanchez teacher training in Mexico

The fine folks who created the "Absolute" traditional hot style that I teach call our series "Bikram with a twist!" So, in that regard, you can expect my traditional hot classes to offer consistency and discipline for students of all levels and abilities, which allows for opportunities to recognize areas of growth/improvement. In addition to a disciplined regimen--and perhaps in contrast with such--students can expect me to shimmy in some energetic and light-hearted enthusiasm and perhaps a few attempts at humour, which hopefully help to relax a little and maybe even have some fun!
In my kids yoga classes I emphasize the importance of letting go, being yourself, being open minded, being connected, being creative, being silly, and just being a kid! Partner/group yoga, acro, games, yoga art projects, meditation, breathing, and relaxation& visualization are all part of our kids yoga adventure! We might go on an African safari or a magic carpet ride or partake in a yoga obstacle course or scavenger hunt..but one thing's for sure: we'll have fun while we learn about yoga, the world, each other, and ourselves! And of course, the kids are given a chance to take a break from our sometimes overtly stimulating daily lives and given time to just relax.
I could go on and on about all the great things that yoga has provided me with and how it's changed my life for the better, because it has. Yoga is AMAZING. Yet, rather than ramble on about how yoga is everything that's right and good in the world, I encourage all to give it an honest try (regularly and consistently with an open mind/heart for at least a few weeks) and then ask yourself: why NOT yoga? I'm sure you'll see that that is a much more difficult question to answer.
My style of teaching is gentle and loving with a focus on alignment and flow. I teach classes of all ages and all levels and love to incorporate meditation and pranayama. I believe that each class should have moments to build strength and find relaxation..
I came to yoga as a way to love and feel ok in myself. I felt disconnected from my body and desperately needed a way to find security and strength within myself. Living a life of Yoga is giving me this, and more. On this journey I have developed a deep rooted passion for discussions surrounding body image, self love and healing the whole self through yoga. "Your task is not to seek for Love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built up against it." – Rumi" As a yoga instructor I have been teaching for several years and completed a direct 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified mentorship with Katrina Ariel. Additionally, I have taken various workshops with highly skilled instructors and studied several hours under YogaFit training systems. Bridging my passion for youth and yoga, I have completed a training in yoga for at-risk youth with teacher Ryan Leier. Most importantly I am and always will be a dedicated student of yoga and life. I am very excited to share my enthusiasm and loving teachings with my students .
In my classes, my overall intention is to guide you through a practice that helps you feel more connected to yourself - in mind, body and soul. I encourage everyone to find their own personal balance between strength and relaxation - to listen to your body, and honour how you are feeling in the moment. I aim to bring you into a state of 'embodied mindfulness' where you can allow yourself to be present with sensations, thoughts, and emotions with pure awareness and without judgment or criticism. My hope is that you will leave your yoga practice feeling a bit more centered, joyful and rejuvenated!
I could write a long list! But to summarize... yoga helps calm my busy mind, it strengthens and stretches my body to new limits, and perhaps most importantly, it helps me feel connected to my soul - where I can feel an overall sense of joy, light-heartedness and well-being! I believe that actually is our true and natural state... so perhaps, to put it more simply, yoga helps me feel more like my true self!

The energy I get from my mat, and off my mat is absolutely mesmerizing. I feel a sense of calm, a sense of joy, a sense of serenity. Yoga came to me, 11 years ago after my first child was born. A way to navigate into a place without judgement of myself or anyone. The breath, the body, the soul, completely became alive. With each practice I realized that all I needed was this life, this breath, this heart, and I was completely satisfied. No need to reach for more, as I had it all in me already.

Playful, entertaining, fun, exciting, thrilling, exhilarating, action-packed, stirring, rousing, stimulating, intoxicating, electrifying, invigorating; gripping, compelling, powerful, dramatic … this is how practice feels like these days and I wish nothing less for my students to experience that same exhilaration. I want them to walk away feeling lighter, stronger, a person who is better then they were when they come into class.
Yoga moves me in ways no other exercise does. It connects me to my thoughts and feelings, and awakens my spirit. It lets me be a child again and the same time helps me grow as a person. I believe in challenging myself in every practice to learn something new about who I am. That process of engaging the body, mind, emotions and spirit is healing and empowering and is the essence of what I seek to share in every class. "I am primarily a hatha-vinyasa instructor, with a love for all things yoga. I completed my first 200 hour teacher training in Vinyasa Flow in 2014, followed by additional trainings in hands on assists and yoga for athletes. I fell in love with teaching and was inspired to complete my 300 hour teacher training in Hatha-Vinyasa. Yoga is not just fitness, it is the practice of living. I aspire to share yoga with the world by encouraging others to take what they learn on their mats into their everyday lives.
"I have been teaching yoga since 2013 and turned to teaching prenatal classes when I was pregnant with my daughter in 2016. When I got pregnant, I had to modify my yoga practice and my life very suddenly. I was in a very fast paced, full schedule which all came to a halt as I was extremely sick with morning sickness and hormone related migraines my whole pregnancy. Yoga allowed me the space to slow down and really tune in to my body, my baby, and clear out the extra noise of life. I use the tools of yoga daily, especially during the most difficult moments when navigating through motherhood. I feel honored to share some of those practices with new mothers as they embark on their own unique journey..

What can students expect from your class: Students can expect an escape, I want them to see their mat as a private oasis where they are encouraged to let go of life's heaviness - become lighter. My intention is for students to soften through breath but also find that physical intensity that taps into discipline and confidence. I truly love every class that I can serve my students, by guiding them through inspiring, uplifting and regenerative classes.
Over the last 16 years my practice has been, and remains, a place I can depend on to find clarity, peace and centering. I love how my body and mind feel after class and whatever I am going through in life seems more manageable. After many years of working in business, my desire for a more balanced lifestyle led me to becoming a yoga teacher. It is rewarding in so many ways and I continue to love my yoga journey.

It can be tough to describe your own teaching style! I can tell you what my yogi friends, fellow teachers and KHY clients have told me. My teaching style is a balance of light-hearted fun, relaxation and strengthening techniques. I am a very energetic person and love to play with the asanas as well as abdominal strengthening work. In Yoga sculpt, which is an upbeat style of practice, we listen to music and flow through more challenging poses. All the classes I teach are open to any level of yoga experience. I enjoy challenging experienced students, as well as opening the door for new and curious students. A consistent theme in my classes is mindfulness and respect to one's self. My goal is to encourage students to honor and accept themselves. If I can help students feel comfortable to be authentic in my class, then the rest is a bonus!
My relationship with yoga has been developing since I started playing competitive soccer as a teenager. Growing up in Kamloops, I was always athletic but not flexible. My practice started as a physical remedy to sore muscles and grew into a spiritual and mindful lifestyle. The yoga community is extremely supportive. I am grateful for my KHY family. Over the years, I have been able to teach in different countries and evolve my yoga interests from SUP to acrobatic and partner yoga. Although the road to true mindfulness is sometimes rocky, it's through my yoga practice that I can find myself and re-connect. Jenny stumbled into her first yoga class at the ripe age of 20. Though the experience itself was deeply uncomfortable, the alive-ness she felt after class was like nothing she had ever had before. This feeling was the spark of a life passion for yoga and mindfulness practices that have only burned more brightly in time. She looks forward to meeting you on your mat, on your meditation cushion or on the road of life! Jenny’s classes pull on many different yogic traditions but are always grounded in a mindfulness-based approach. A focus on mental health is also a corner stone in Jenny’s life and teaching, having come from a high-stress education and work environment. Helping others open up to look at and work with their mental health challenges is work that is near and dear to Jenny’s heart. The main focus in all of Jenny's classes is breath. Focusing on breath, moving through various asana’s with a main focus on core.
This question is hard for me to answer because I could literally write a book. Yoga has done so much for me both physically and mentally, it rid me of my anxiety, helped me build confidence, aided in weight loss and the list could go on forever. Basically yoga makes me whole, it makes me healthy and most of all it made me realize I am in control of my own happiness.
My future goals include finishing my business degree, completing a 200 hour teacher training and sharing my love of yoga with others while continuing to learn and grow as a student of yoga. Last year I spent 10 days in silence at a Vipassana Meditation course and I hope to do that again soon and once every year. I’m not 100% sure where my path will lead but for now I am happy working at KHY and getting to be a part of this amazing yoga community.

Nurture your Expressions! I express my gratitude to yoga, movement and mindfulness practice through poetry, writing, voice, theatre arts, community building and creative collaborations. I bring my many travels and experiences in every yoga class because as an observer of life and facilitator for expressions, my strong presence and guide will nourish your mind and nurture your body/spirit. When I went to York University's Theatre Conservatory in 2003, I encountered my first yoga class and I knew that this journey will be a life long practice for healing the mind and body connection. When I took my first Moksha Hot Yoga class in Toronto in 2007 while I was co-writing my first play/collaboration "People Power" with a theatre company, I wanted and needed to share this to the world. When I moved to Vancouver and started teaching Moksha/Modo 9 years ago, I knew my life would change! I've travelled, nurtured, nourished yoga offerings and teachings with many yoga communities from Vancouver, Toronto, Trinidad and Tobago, Philippines, Haida Gwaii and Seattle. I'm grateful to be able to ground and share yoga here in the land of "meeting of the waters" - Kamloops. Together, we can strengthen, empower, heal, calm, love, energize, build strong minds and bodies with one another. In my classes I emphasize connection to breath, to self, to sensation and to the present moment. My traditional hot classes follow a set sequence to help you deepen your postures through repetition and discipline. My flow classes are playful and fun, with a different sequence and focus each week. My restorative classes provide deep relaxation and comfort in a warm and supportive environment.
I began yoga as a drama student and found it tremendously helpful in a stressful time. Over the next few years my practice was irregular and I started to recognize a pattern. Times when I didn’t find much time for practice my back hurt, I worried a lot, I became crankier and more self-conscious but less self-aware. When I practiced several times a week I was pain free, more relaxed, more confident, happier and approached life optimistically with an open mind and heart. I believe that yoga brings us closer to our true selves, the joyful, open, confident, and most importantly deeply connected self that is at the core of each of us.

I bring into the room 25 years of dedication to the practice and study of yoga and 14 years of teaching yoga. My worldly travels and meditations have shown me the value of silence and space in yoga practice. I try to hold that space to allow for everyone to explore their practice to their fullest potential. Everyone coming into my class has traveled down their own personal road to the get to today’s yoga class. I celebrate the variation in the room and try to support everyone’s journey. I always endeavour inspire students to be the best yogi they can be in class today. Keeping in mind, the mantra that today’s class is platform for tomorrow’s class. My hope is that everyone will learn something about yoga and/or themselves in every class I teach and their life will be enriched by this process.
Yoga has been such a part of my life for so long, I can’t imagine a day without practice, breath or yogic philosophy as a basis for my daily decisions. My journey to understand the underlying yogic philosophy has lead me to sit in silence for 10 days, twice. Wear our “Yoga with Yogi Hari” cassette tapes. It has taken me to Nepal and India. It had given me the tools to birth my children in my home, then mindfully raise them. It has allowed me turn a passion into profession in Ontario and here in Kamloops. Throughout the years, I have had the honour to be in the presence of some of today’s modern masters of yoga. The way they move through life is almost surreal and has inspired my journey on this path to see the glimmers of light and love that they see.
In this fast paced world of bigger, stronger, faster, achieve, go go go, yoga returns us to ourselves. Through connecting to our breath in a deep, intentional, meaningful way we connect to our truest selves. We allow time and space for our body, mind and spirit to come back into alignment and go back out into the world more "whole" and present. Eventually we are able to transfer what we've learned in the studio/on our mat into our daily lives creating a less reactive self and embracing a more responsive self. I'm a firm believer that yoga in all forms and styles is the most powerful medicine against our growing issues and concerns with depression, loneliness and anxiety. Yoga not only aligns your inner self but creates a sense of belonging and oneness within a group of individuals all seeking self improvement and empowerment. The question for me isn't "why yoga?", its emphatically "why not yoga?"
Students can expect a fun filled alignment based class focused on breath and movement. Korry believes in balancing the Yin and Yang in all of her classes, seeking to find the softness within the power poses and strength (not just physical) within the more yin postures. Pranayama (breath work) will be primary focus in all of Korrys classes.

I wish for every participant all the benefits I receive from my practice whether it is in a Hatha, Yin or Traditional Hot class - confidence, energy, being present, gratitude, a connection with their mind body and spirit, a balance of strength and flexibility, and absolutely more joy and contentment.
Having suffered a bothersome hip misalignment for many years, I realized that a consistent yoga practice was the answer for my optimum health. My journey in Yoga has so many rewards - I see myself as more open , less stressed, more focused and grounded. On my mat I get to be exactly where I need to be on any given day - off my mat I feel closer to my true inner self. Yoga is my greatest gift to myself - that is a gift I love to share!
I will never forget the first time I felt it, the high walking out of a yoga class. I felt light, peaceful and relaxed. I didn’t know it then, but that was just the start of a journey that would take me deeper every day into a practise that not only has endless physical health benefits in my body but gives me tools to do life better. Yoga teaches me to see more clearly and gently pulls me closer to becoming the person I aspire to be.
I hope to always grow within the yoga community, the more I learn the more my thirst for learning grows! I have recently completed a 200hr YTT and wish to continue practising what I’ve discovered with this training. I also want to travel in the future, in a perfect world travel and yoga would be combined!
I started doing yoga six or seven years ago because my friend made me; she promised it would make me better at snowboarding and all of the other sports I enjoy. Then I hit my head really hard (while snowboarding) and my life changed. Yoga is the one thing that helps me stay focused, deal with my migraines, keep calm and continue to appreciate every single moment that I am lucky enough to have in this world. Yoga gives me that time that I need to connect with myself and remember that, "I am that I am".
Long term, my goals are constantly changing and I think that is good because it is important to be able to adapt as the conditions in your life change. That said, it would be amazing if I managed to one day make it from crow into a plank without a very audible belly flop onto my mat. In the near future I will be happy to continue gaining as much knowledge as possible and helping myself and those around me flourish in whatever ways I can.
There is a certain feeling after doing a yoga class that I just can’t find anywhere else. It’s a natural high. Yoga has made me realize that being in the present moment is beautiful, at the same time it has pushed me to be a more determined, passionate person. Yoga teaches you how to live mindfully which helps you in everyday life off the mat. It has changed my life for the better and I will never live without it!
My goals are to always keep learning and growing as a person. You never know what life may bring so keeping an open mind to what will come and keeping opportunities open for myself. As a yoga teacher, my goals are to continue my study in yoga and other healing aspects. Becoming a registered massage therapist is something I may be interested in the future which will help my yoga teaching, knowing the anatomy of the body is so important in this field! My goals are always going to be changing and growing but I love where I am.
Yoga found me at the age of 16, while lost in the competitive world of dance, and in the midst of an unhealthy relationship with my body. It wasn’t until a few years later that a true love affair with my daily yoga practise saved me from the pressures of perfectionism and performance, to restore a balance in my connection with body. Presently, every time I step on the mat, I feel home. It is the safe place where I can turn inwards to revive myself with peace, love, and gentle forgiveness; embracing what is developing on the mat and transferring that state of mind into everyday life.
Having completed my 200hr YTT with Semperviva in Vancouver, my goal is to teach yoga! I look forward to learning about The Hot Series with Leilani Reid, and to share what I learn with future students. I love yoga and I imagine that I will continue to expand my knowledge through many more trainings. Through my growth as a teacher, my ambition is to find opportunities to practice and teach all over the world.
I have been practising yoga since I turned 17. I decided then that the health benefits, long term, were amazing for the body and aging gracefully. I fear that as I age and my body deteriorates that I wont be strong enough to handle the changes. My hope is that an active body will stay healthy and active. By practising continually I find it also helps alleviate moods and allows my patience to increase. Yoga has all around been a great addition to my life.
I am a day at a time kind of person. I have never had a ten year plan which to some sounds stressful, but I believe by living my life the best way I can allows me to not regret decisions I’ve made or paths it has led. In my yoga practise I want to one day fly! I want to have upper and core strength that can rival my younger self! I plan to one day get teacher training to increase my overall practice and mindset. I would love to lead my friends through a flow in my living room ???? I am a simple person and just want happiness, no matter the shape (puppy dog pose) it takes in my life!
I've only been practicing yoga for a short year and a half, but it has completely changed my life. Before I fell in love with yoga, I had a passion for bodybuilding which was a part of my life for 6 years. After a diagnosis, I realized that weightlifting was causing more harm to my body than good. That's when I switched to yoga and I'm so happy I did. Not only does it allow for ease and flexibility in my body, but it brings tranquility and peace into my daily life.
My ultimate goal in life is freedom! Freedom to travel the world so I can immerse myself in new cultures, fill my days with adventure and dip my toes in the 7 seas. I am currently creating online holistic wellness courses for people living with autoimmune disease and hope to continue learning about the world of internet marketing. I have no idea where life is going to take me but I truly believe I will end up exactly where I am supposed to be. Relaxing on a beach would be ideal!
